Act 71 Suicide Awareness & Prevention Online Training


  • Online interactive training program for educators and school staff. Designed in a series of 5 modules, it addresses the critical but limited responsibilities of educators in the process of identification and referral of potentially suicidal youth. It focuses on the practical realities and challenges inherent in the school setting through a variety of training formats that include lecture, question and answer, and role plays. This training is available free of charge. Upon completion of this accredited 3 hour activity you will receive a certificate of completion. In PA, the three hours of training may be recognized as professional development or fulfill legislative requirements.

     

    Prior to participating in the training, individuals will need to create an account. They should click the following link to set up their accounts: http://sptsuniversity.org/login/index.php

     

    Upon creating an account, teachers will receive an acct. confirmation email. Within 3 days of receiving the acct. confirmation email, they should click the link in the body of the email message to confirm their accounts.

     

    They will then be taken to an enrollment page and they should click “enroll me” under self enrollment to gain access to the online course. Please note – all modules must be completed by all teachers (even those marked optional).

    FAQs

    I did not receive a confirmation email after I registered.

    -          Have you waited 8 hours?

    -          Have you checked your spam folder?

    -          If so, likely causes are:

    1.      There was a typo in your email address when registering which is rather common. Please register again paying careful attention to the email address you provide.

    2.      Some organizations mistakenly block email coming from our site. You may want to try and register from a alternate email address.

    3.      It could be a temporary failure of your organizations e-mail system which does happen. Wait a bit longer to see if it corrects or contact your organization's tech support contact for assistance.

    Why does it take 8 hours to receive a confirmation email?

    -          Our site actually sends the email immediately but due to factors beyond our control the email may or may not show up in your email box quickly. 

    I cannot login

    -          We re-launched our course and site on 2/11/15. If you created an account before that date you will need to register again.

    I've tried the password or username reset tool and I did receive an email. When I click the link it contains I get an error.

    -          The email link that is sent expires in three days if it is not used. You will need to request another one if it has expired.

     Do I have to take the complete course in one sitting?

    -          No, the site remembers your progress each time you visit and will return you to that spot.

    How can I get another copy of my certificate?

    -          Login to the site to access the course and print a copy of the certificate.
